Timberland Pro Boondock 8 Inch Insulated Composite Toe Boots is one of the most popular work boots out there. We reviewed them based on our usual criteria: grip, insulation, waterproof ability, comfort, safety, durability, mobility.
Features we like:
- 1000g Insulation
- Anti-Fatigue Technology
- Composite Safety Toe
- Waterproof Leather Uppers
- Rough Cold Weather – Ready Outsoles
- Fantastic Comfort
- Durability
- Available in Non-Insulated, Soft-Toe, Waterproof Only
Features we don’t like:
- They are a bit heavy, so it might not be a good idea to wear them if you walk on surfaces that can easily be damaged (like metal roofs)
GRIP and SOLE
They grip perfectly even on the worst surfaces: snowy, wet, oily or dusty. We were pleasantly surprised to see workers saying these boondocks are insanely grippy on snow-covered rooftops. They are created to withstand rough, muddy, slippery and tricky terrain.
If you work in rough conditions, or in snow/icy conditions in low temperatures – these boots are designed for these extreme conditions.
The outsole is slip-resistant and provides you with added traction even on surfaces covered with oil. There are many workers out there who wear these in oil refineries or oilfields and say that these Boondocks don’t slip on any oil residue from the ground.
The sole is really solid, well built, and resistant. The boots feature a high-quality dual density Midsole and TPU Outsole.
COMFORT
The Anti-Fatigue Technology provides shock-absorption and maximum cushioning to your soles, heel, and ankle. These boots are designed for people who work up to 12-14 hours a day, in extreme conditions.
They feel like you’re walking on pillows, that’s how comfortable they are from the moment you put them on. The break-in process is pain-free and pretty fast (a few days).
ANKLE FLEXIBILITY
At a first glance, they seem rough, heavy and bulky. But once you tried them on, you’ll feel secure, tight yet soft and comfortable around the ankles.
Some said that during the breaking in process, they experienced some pain around the ankles. But once you pass that process, you’ll experience a comfortable, snug and good fit.
The boots provide you with a secure ankle support that also gives your ankles mobility to allow you to squat, bend or kneel with comfort.
DURABILITY
Years. They can last you years. And we’re talking about wearing them every single day – and still, they will not let you down and last you a loooong period of time. Due to the high-resistant materials, they’re made of, the longevity is fantastic. The uppers can outlast rough work conditions without tearing off or break apart.
PROTECTION
Timberland Pro Boondock 8 Inch Comp Insulated come with safety toe protection. Boondocks are available also in the Non-Safety Toe version.
They come with 1000g of insulation – your feet will be protected from freezing and extremely cold temperatures.
Conclusion:
They are overall great boots for construction workers, miners, carpenters, welders, and others who work in dangerous work conditions. They’re durable, fashionable and once you pass the breaking in period, you’ll experience only a comfort that will increase your productivity at work. If you want a lighter version, you have the option to get a non-insulated model, non-waterproof and soft toe.
