What makes a great roofing harness? Well, for us is the right balance between quality, durability, and price. After hours of research. We’ve found the best roof safety harnesses available today on the market. Here are our three favorite picks:
Best Roofing Harnesses of 2022
1. Guardian Fall Protection Kit
Best Overall
Our #1 favorite is the Guardian Fall Protection (Qualcraft) Set.
The harness is well-built, safe, durable, and comfortable. It comes with all the required safety elements needed for a proper fall protection system.
When it comes to getting outstanding value for your money, we must recommend the Guardian Fall Protection roofing harness kit bucket. It comes with everything you need for roof safety:
- reusable heavy-duty anchor with screws
- full-body harness
- 50-foot lifeline
- lanyard
- hook mechanism
- clutches, buckles, roofing rope grab
- all the above is stored conveniently in a yellow bucket.
All the elements included in this kit are well-designed, durable, and reliable. The harness is designed to fit you snug but is not too restrictive. It allows you to feel secure and at the same time, comfortable.
The Guardian safety harness comes in a universal fit with five adjustment points, to make sure it can fit every body type.
The temporary anchor can be installed on most roofs up to 12/12 pitch. For maximum safety, the long 50-foot lifeline is shock-absorbing and cushions the impact in case of a fall.
It’s easy to put on and take off, and the rope grab allows you to easily and safely move along the line. Perfect for professional use and for some occasional DIY projects as well (eg. when installing Christmas lights).

We like the revolver vertical torso adjusters on this model as well. With a quick turn of a dial, you can make fast and secure adjustments. This smart adjustment system is very helpful in cold temperatures where you may be wearing a hoodie, work gloves, or winter layers.
It’s ANSI/OSHA approved and is ideal for ironworking, roofing, scaffolding, and any other industry that requires you to work at heights.
The overall quality is superior. The stitching is sturdy and reliable, making the harness highly durable.
Cons: expensive, doesn’t come with ropes, anchors, and other safety accessories.
3. KwikSafety (Charlotte) THUNDER
With an affordable price tag, the KwikSafety Thunder safety harness is durable, reliable, and comfortable. It meets and exceeds ANSI standards, and is perfect for roofing.
If you’re looking for a reasonably-priced safety harness, the KwikSafety Thunder is a great choice. The Thunder model is rugged, heavy-duty, and made to last.
The straps are fluorescent yellow, which allows you to be seen in low light. They can be easily adjusted to fit you snugly and comfortably. Equipped with 3D-Rings, it can hold up to 310 pounds.
The synthetic material is water repellant and has superior stitching. The material is aging, heat, and abrasion resistant.
Perfect for roofing, tree climbing, gutter cleaning, solar panel installation, window washing, construction, etc.
Cons: doesn’t come with a lanyard, ropes, anchors, etc.
I have used the Guardian sling some times to scrub the gutters. Put down Christmas lights for patrons. I can adjust pro re nata and it’ll hold the load. you should not depend on it to carry you when leaning on the roof, but it can. I’ve also slow down trees by standing on the roof and reaching intent on detach limbs. Not recommended…but I did it and felt completely safe. Follow the installation guide and assembly instructions and you will be drop-proof.
I’ve been using the regular cheap straps at work for ages and had my eye on a 3M strap which is maybe the sole thing I’ve bought that I can say is worth every penny. My back feels better and I am far more comfortable in it. If you have got employment that needs fall protection, you wish this harness.
